Laser Cutting

Laser – which stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission Radiation – was invented by Theodore Maiman in 1960. Due to its purity and coherence of light, laser remains the most precise cutting technology available.

Laser cutting is a precision cutting process that uses a finely controlled high powered laser to cut through materials. Laser cutting provides high precision results as the laser does not wear during the process. There is also a clean edge as laser systems have a very narrow heat affected zone that does not affect coatings like anodise and power coating.

Precision Laser Cutting has invested in the latest technology in CO2 lasers, which allows us to offer the fine standards that you expect.

Metal Laser Cutting

Our Laser cutter is ideal for cutting perfect parts from many types of sheet metal – alloy steel, aluminium alloys, stainless steel, titanium, and tool steel. We can cut fabrication pieces, decorative panels and novelty items. We are able to cut sheet metals up to;

  • Stainless Steel 3mm
  • Raw Aluminium 3mm*
  • Marine Grade Aluminium 2mm*
  • Mild Steel 6mm
  • Low Carbon Steel 6mm
  • Spring Steel 6mm
  • Other materials such as Titanium, Zincalume, Colourbond, Galvabond and Zincanneal to varying thicknesses.

*We also have a flatbed CNC router that can cut aluminium of all grades up to 15mm to fine tolerances.

Plastic Laser Cutting

Laser cutters are ideal for cutting plastics and acrylics due to the intricate shapes and high quality finishes they can produce. They are much faster than a router and offer a level of flexibility and speed not achieved by other methods.

We can cut a wide range of plastic materials in thicknesses up to 20mm including;

  • Acrylic
  • Polycarbonate
  • Plexiglass
  • Polyethylene
  • ABS
  • Delrin
  • PETG
  • Mylar
  • Acrylic (sometimes called perspex) is commonly used in numerous applications today. We stock a large variety of acrylic in varying thicknesses and colours that we can laser cut to your desired size.

Timber Laser Cutting

Another feature of laser cutting is the ability to cut many types of timber and timber products up to a thickness of 15mm.

  • Laser cut timber has a darkened edge which helps to accentuate the product.

Lasers are also ideally suited to engraving and laser cutting wood and timber such as feature panels, wood inlays, toys, decorative items, artistic craftwork, souvenirs and architectural models.

Laser Engraving
